Above a consistent 20 knots I would always take out the Kahoona. I'm not looking to unhook in these winds and the Kahoonas provide amazing control in strong, gusty winds. They also have unbeatable upwind ability for a swept tip kite. So I can catch multiple waves from the same set or go in at hard side off conditions - more wind window means more ways to go. The other thing that makes all the difference with the Kahoona is the relaunch. If you drop a Kahoona it will almost bounce off the water back into the air, which really helps if you have a huge wave coming up behind you fast.

Strong high pressure will continue to build across the state
through Thursday. This condition will produce gusty and strong
northeasterly (offshore) winds during the night and morning
hours, especially in the coastal canyons and passes and also
at Cal Poly and near French Medical Center on Wednesday into
Thursday.
These northeasterly (offshore) winds will come off the Santa
Lucia Mountains and will produced very warm and dry air conditions
along the beaches and coastal valleys.
Temperatures along the beaches should reach the high 80s to the
low 90s. The coastal valleys (San Luis Obispo) will hit the high
90s if not the low 100 mark. The North County (Paso Robles) will
be cooler, reaching the low 90s during this period.
The offshore winds will diminish on Friday morning and the
cool moisture-laden northwesterly (onshore) winds from the Pacific
Ocean are expected later on Friday producing cooler
temperatures.
Cooler weather is expected over the weekend and there will likely
also be an increase in cloudiness. There could be a slight chance
for rain showers on Sunday or Monday as considerable uncertainty
exists with the forecast beyond Friday and Saturday. Nonetheless,
fair and warmer weather is expected by the middle part of next week
and the fair weather will probably last into the following weekend.
